WALTER SHAPIRO has covered every presidential campaign, beginning in 1980. He is currently on the staff of the New Republic, and a columnist for Roll Call. He has also been a lecturer in political science at Yale since 2013. His book Hustling Hitler, about his con man great-uncle, is being turned into a Broadway musical. In his journalistic career, he has worked for USA Today, Time, Newsweek, the Washington Post, and Esquire. He has been coming to the Vineyard every summer since 1994. He lives in Manhattan, and is married to the best-selling biographer Meryl Gordon (Bunny Mellon and Mrs. Astor Regrets).
