Laura Holmes Haddad is a graduate of Smith College and the California Culinary Academy, Laura Holmes Haddad’s writing career began as a cookbook editor and food writer. Laura was an assistant editor in the adult trade division of Simon & Schuster and assisted the senior editor with line editing and writing jacket copy for over twenty-five cookbooks. Laura relocated to the West Coast and pursued a freelance career, including co-authoring and ghost-writing cookbooks and cookbook proposals. Her work includes co-author, with chef Lulu Powers, of “Lulu Powers, Food to Flowers,” (HarperCollins); co-author, with Beecher’s Cheese founder Kurt Dammeier, of “Pure Flavor: 125 Fresh All-American Recipes from the Pacific Northwest,” (Clarkson Potter); ghost writer, “I’m Dreaming of a Green Christmas,” and “Easy Green Organic,” by Anna Getty (Chronicle Books). Laura’s writing shifted when she was diagnosed with Stage IV inflammatory breast cancer. After completing three years of treatment, she wrote This is Cancer: Everything You Need to Know, from the Waiting Room to the Bedroom (Hachette/Seal Press, 2016; audio edition, Blackstone Audio). She also travels and speaks to a wide variety of audiences about her experimental cancer treatment and clinical drug trials. Laura lives in West Tisbury with her husband and two children and a handful of chickens.
