Elizabeth Benedict has spent decades writing and thinking about grief and loss in their many guises, in her own five novels and many personal essays, in teaching, and in editing three anthologies. They include the New York Times bestseller, “What My Mother Gave Me: 31 Writers on the Gifts That Mattered Most,” and “Mentors, Muses and Monsters: 30 Writers on the People Who Changed Their Lives.” Four of her essays have been Notable Mentions in the “Best American Essays” series.
